Cage the Parents, and DCFS

Father says confining children was necessary.

I am not really sure where to begin on this story. This couple adopts 11 special needs children, then because they where "destroying" their house, locked them up in cages. The father believes he is doing nothing wrong, and was locking up the kids for their own safety. That's funny, because I lock my dog up for his own safety. He goes on to say, "If you can call these cages, take me to jail right now," Michael Gravelle said. "Right now." Well sir, if I see an enclosure which someone is in, that has an alarm that goes off when the door is opened. I believe I would call it a cage, or jail! Which seems to be where you and your wife will be going soon!

This highlights another failure of a Department of Children and Family Services which happen too often around the country. Who allows a couple to adopt 11 special needs children without checking up on some times. Could it be that the could wanted the $4,265 added to their income for taking all those kids?

I think the parents are the ones with special needs if they thought that this was ok! Time to place them in their own cage!

Cage or no cage, if these people do not have the means to support 11 children with special needs, especially THIS severe, then they shouldn't be supporting them. Whether they did it out of the kindness of their hearts or to make money is up to the courts to decide, but if they wanted a better life for these kids they need to realize that the living situation they're living in isn't good for them OR the children. Feces on the walls and urine stains? That is a bigger sign to me that these kids aren't getting the proper care they need. They should NOT have been allowed to adopt that many children. As someone who works with special needs children(some severe), i can tell you that no couple in the world would be able to properly care for 11 children as severe as theirs, unless they had a LOT of money, a LOT of help, a LOT of patience, and a LOT of space, and by the looks of things, these people had none. I feel sorry for those kids.
