If we drilled up there, you know exactly how long it would last for the US. Don't give me this crap that "there might be more oil that we do not know about". You are talking like a paid republican scientist. We have no idea what drilling up there will do the the wildlife. It is better to error on the side of caution. I do not care how many tribes say it is ok to drill, or how many republicans do not care about the enviroment. We should look at other energy sourses. Sometimes you talk on sites like you are running for office. Why don't you tell us what you really believe.

There is about 10.5 billion barrels maybe of oil in ANWR. The point here is that the US uses 7.5 billion a year. Drilling up there is not worth it and is not the smart option.

I'm just completely overwhelmed that people actually think this is going to solve all of our energy problems. Its so naive to think that drilling in alaska is going to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. No it won't. Nobody in Washington wants to stop getting oil from other countries. Why would we? We get plenty and it keeps the other countries on our side (for the most part...hello Canada?). All we're doing is giving more power to the oil companies who only care about themselves and their money and are going to continue to dick us around with rediculous gas prices. Why? Because they can and because all they care about is their money, not their employees, and certainly not the people of this country. Oil companies have been doing this to us for a hundred years and we just keep feeding into their empty promises and their propganda. Once again, i pose my confusion as to why we (as a nation) cannot not and almost seem to refuse to learn from our mistakes. And thats not even the environmental aspect of it all. THATS even WORSE! We're going to take the last pure and untouched corner of our country and turn it into an oil field. Oh, the natives are ok with it? Maybe its because this country keeps them SO POOR that any opportunity to make money would be great. Lets take our blinders off people and realize that oil companies and many of our government officials have their own agendas with this and could give two shits about the actual effects its gonna have on us and the environment.

You're right nobody knows what it'll do to the environment. But the fact is, the pipeline that was put in actually led to an INCREASE in the caribu population in Alaska because of the warmth from the pipeline. What do I believe, I believe in the people of the area should get a helluva lot of say in what goes on. But I'm glad you don't care what people think, you're sound like a true paid democrat! And did I ever say we shouldn't look for new energry sources? No I did not. In fact I believe that we need to work on alternative means and hybrid should become the standard in new cars probably within a decade.
