US retains hold of the internet

Could you imagine what it would be like if the internet was governed like some of these other UN international bodies? Maybe China, who blocks a lot of internet sites will be the chair of this group at one point. What about Saudi Arabia, the only websites we would be able to go to would be about Islam. First off, there would not be much of an internet if it was not for the United States. Second we might not be the shining beacon of light when it comes to a lot of things, but we are doing pretty good compared to a lot of countries when it comes to censorship. Well that is as long as the FCC does not do any of the controlling. If that was the case we would only have conservative Christian websites.

I think think that leaving the US in charge of the internet domain was a good idea. There would be too much world politics if it was governed by a international committee. Many countries are blocking certain internet sites anyway. The international community needs to work on freedom of speech before they can attempt to call for governance of a media in which that freedom is so important.
