The War at Home

Americans less enchanted as sole superpower

Who wants to be a superpower when everyone hates us. We are more like a dictator nation, not a leading nation. We have a leader who has pissed most of the world off, and now most of the nation. His hard line tactics have not brought us friends, but enemies. Here is my favorite part of the article:

September 11 is losing its power to shape views on foreign policy, Lee Feinstein, deputy director of studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, said in a briefing for reporters. Activism looks much less appealing

Bush can no longer run his mouth, or ads about Sept. 11th and have every American all of a sudden feel like waiving the flag and voting republican. It is not a surprise to me that Democrats feel less enchanted about being a superpower in the survey. Could it be that the people in this country should be focused on, and not just have their money spent on Iraq. For the Republicans to save face in Election time in 06 some people are going to have to leave the White House to get rid of this image that Bush has. I will not be surprised to see Rove, Card and Rumsfeld go during this year.

I think what is also interesting is how out of touch from the general public those opinion forcers (er I guess the term they used was leaders) are. What I mean if you look at the whole report, number two, just a fraction behind protection from terrorism for the public was protect American jobs. Only one other group (state/local government) had that as a priority. Maybe those "leaders" (using the term as loose as possible) should figure out what's important to the people they are shoving ideas down their throats.
