Lack of Leadership
Enough of the Waiting Game
Howard Dean said that his comments about the US not being able to win the Iraq war were "a little out of context." With the President's job approval rating at an all time low, some Democrats are still to scared to stand up and represent what a lot of people are thinking. I could not agree with this article more! There is a massive leadership vacuum in the party and the longer we wait, the more time the Republicans have to get the trust of the people back.
The rule is reaction, not action. The Democrats have become the party that waits. The plan seems to be to wait until the Republicans falter, then to move in for the kill. It's not pretty, it's not inspiring and it's not working.
This is the perfect time for someone strong and smart and unafraid to step to the podium, to give eloquent, unequivocal speeches wherever a forum exists. For those who have become addicted, like fast-food junkies, to the fat and starch of pragmatic political calculation, it's the perfect time for the Democrats to step up and speak out. There is an enormous constituency, and they are waiting too.
Now that might seem too West Wing for reality, but it is time for someone to get up and say it like it is! The President has lost the country, and I do not want to wait for someone to take it back.

This seems like the perfect moment for Barack Obama to give a stirring speech, then step back and wait for the country to draft him to run for president in 2008...
I agree! Every time I see Santos on the West Wing, I want it to be Obama.
Obama in '08!
As much as I would LOVE to see Obama in '08, don't you think it's too early in his career? I mean, he just got elected as senator a year ago. I have a feeling that most people, even though they like him, might think he's not "experienced" enough.
But, wouldn't that be wonderful? Wow, I get goosebumps just thinking about it!
