Parental permission required for sex ed

You have got to love the state of Kansas. At least once a month the government of Kansas is attempting to force moral standards on its people. I do not feel bad for the people at all. They are the ones electing the officials telling them that evolution did not happen, and who are ignorant of their children having sex before marriage. Major studies have shown that abstinence education does not work. There is nothing wrong with talking about it to children during a sex ed course, but please talk about condoms, and birth control as well. Permission to take a sex ed course is a terrible idea. Parents typically are the worst people to place in charge of talking to their kids about sex. So if the school does not educate them about sex, their friends will. I do not understand this problem at all, I went to a Catholic grade school, they brought in a speaker about sex for us, and he told us everything we wanted to know. Yes they said do not have sex before marriage, but they also wanted to keep us safe. This is really what sex education is about, safety, and I feel that if this country had the safety of its children in mind, we would have a national policy on sex education. But for now, the kids in Kansas are going to be running around with this feeling in their pants and cannot talk to anybody about it without signing a form.

All I can say is that I’m happy people can move if they want too. Anyone who stays in Kansas at least sort of deserves the effects the massive ignorance they are damming their children to will cause. Too bad for the kids though, it's not like they have a say in the matter.

I was curious, what happened to "going back to my roots", this isn't CNN's situation room and no more current affairs? :)

Memphis is even worse, they only teach abstenence and something ridiculous percentage of MIDDDLE school children get pregnant.

Brian, I felt that I was not giving my opinion enough. I still would like to talk about what is in the news. By the way, are you going to update your blog ever?
