MySpace makes new online safety push
This is really scary to me. Sexual predators have a disease, much like alcoholism that will never go away! Websites make it easier for them to prey on children or teens. Myspace is not the only problem here, but with so many teens using the internet in ways sometimes I can only imagine this problem even getting worse! When I go home to visit my family, my sister is constantly online chatting with her friends. Now she does not have a myspace account, but some of her classmates, who by the way are not 14, had pictures on myspace of themselves kissing each other in their underwear To make it worse it was one of the girls highschool brother that was taking the pictures! They got in big trouble for this, but the scariest part of all of this..it is up to the parents to regulate the internet for their kids. Half the time some parents do not know how to even use the internet correctly. How are they supposed to check up on their daughters who know more about it than they do? Some parents are so irresponsible, I cannot believe that they even feed their children.
Sexual predators are not the only ones that can be after kids, there are tons of bad people in this world that can use these sites to get at children. Education is the key on this, and it is not just educating the children, it is the parents as well. Schools cannot be the only place to learn about this stuff either. Sexual predators are never going away, and if it is up to the parents to help their children, I sometimes fear the worst.
